In the most basic of terms, the fact that
Jesus suffered at the hand of God on the cross means that
he made full provision for human sin. True, He suffered
at the hands of men, but there is great significance in
the words He spoke on the cross: “And at the ninth
hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi,
lama sabachthani? Which is, being interpreted, My God, my
God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” Mark 15:34. Sin had
shut out the human race from the presence of God, but the
Lord Jesus allowed Himself to be shut out in our place.
His resurrection is simply the proof that the Lord Jesus
had paid the full price. If He had not risen, we would never
have known that God was satisfied with the payment He made.
The apostle Paul tells us that “He….was delivered
for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”
Romans 4:25.
Therefore, self-justification through our effort is absolutely
unnecessary. Again the apostle Paul writes, “Therefore
being justified by faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1. Easter reminds
us there is a free gift of salvation available for all who
will open their empty hand and receive it.
May you have a blessed Easter
